When (and how) to Create a Healthy Company Culture
Don’t wait until the ship has sailed. Get in early to create an optimally healthy company culture
As your idea grows into a living, breathing company, it’s easy to get caught up in growth, deadlines and investor-driven demands, and overlook the opportunities to ensure your company is sustainable and healthy.
Thing is, the earlier you pay attention to the kind of culture you want your company to have, the stronger this culture will take hold — and the happier, healthier and more sustainable your business and your people will be.
Why culture matters
Culture may not seem important when the company is just you and a co-founder or two, but with backing, startups can grow from two employees to five to 20 in a blink of an eye. Your company has a culture whether you define it or not — and if you don’t it usually ends up being unhealthy, if not toxic. If you aren’t intentional about setting your culture from the start, you’re missing a massive chance to make your company profitable and sustainable, and your people healthy and happy.
“When a business closes its doors, many of the causes ultimately boil down to poor culture.”
