When burnout expert Cait Donovan agreed to an interview, I knew we would click. I’ve listened to her brilliant podcast Fried! (the number one burnout podcast) religiously for months, and she’s smart and witty with an infectiously positive, honest energy.

After living in Europe for over a decade, Cait is now a New York-based acupuncturist, master life coach and speaker working with clients around the globe. She’s just published her awesome first book, The Bouncebackability Factor: End Burnout, Gain Resilience and Change the World.

Our conversation was an unmitigated pleasure — and stacked with insight and wisdom.

In your podcast intro you mention that one of your goals is to end burnout culture. How would you define burnout culture?

Burnout culture is the constant striving for more, the idea that it’s never enough. In America, two of the top cultural values are hard work and individualism. This has screwed us up, and the rest of the planet too!
